10. Filling and bleeding

The filling and bleeding of a MAGURA brake is not a routine work. This is due to

the fact that the MAGURA Royal Blood hydraulic oil does not absorb water like DOT

brake liquid in cars and on motorcycles. A filling and bleeding of a MAGURA is therefore

only necessary in case of an incorrect installation or a tubing change after a crash. Only

use MAGURA Royal Blood hydraulic oil, never DOT brake liquid!

The service kit contains everything you need for bleeding your MAGURA brake.

Push by hand a barbed ﬁ tting into the ﬁ ller tube

2. Put the ﬁ ller tube on the syringe and ﬁ ll the syringe completely with MAGURA ROYAL

BLOOD mineral oil. Never use DOT brake liquid! Pay close attention not to have any air in the

tube or syringe!

3. Remove the bleed screw at the slave cylinder (5mm Allen bolt). Fit the syringe and ﬁ x it

with a 8mm open end spanner.

4. Slide away the hose cover from the brake lever as shown

5. Remove the brake lever cover as shown by lifting it up with your ﬁ ngers. .

6.Turn the brake lever as shown upwards. The EBT drill has to be at the highest point of

the system. Unscrew slightly the hose connection screw with a 8mm open end spanner so

that 3 threads can be seen.
